Groom Pets Regularly
As part of your daily regime, make sure to groom your pets regularly. Not only is this an enjoyable bonding time for you and your babies, but it also helps to keep the loose fur from flying all over the house and getting into EVERYTHING. Make sure to also have baby wipes handy to clean their paws when going in and out of the house to minimize tracking around dirt. Also, clean their personal spaces daily to keep odors and dirt to a minimum.
Robot Vacuum
If you’re a full-time parent and work full-time, then buying a robot vacuum might just be what you need to help keep your home up to your standards. These little beauties range in quietness and consumption but most are effective in keeping dust, fur, litter, and debris off your floor. Moreover, if you really want to have fun and find many good YouTube opportunities, you can capture your pet playing with the vacuum as it moves around the house—hilarious!
Lint Rollers/Rubber Gloves
As fur is the #1 problem with pets, it’s essential to keep lint rollers well stocked. However, if you find yourself without one, just head to the kitchen and grab a pair of rubber gloves. Like a balloon when rubbed, the static electricity between the dry fur and the rubber gloves will bond them, making this an excellent tool for a quick fur picker-upper.
Baking Soda/Rubber Broom
If you find keeping your house clean with multiple dogs is hard with carpet, then try this easy trick. Instead of buying expensive carpet deodorizers and cleaners, take a box of baking soda and sprinkle it liberally on your carpet, especially in areas where your pets sleep. Next, take a rubber broom and sweep the hair, dust, and dirt from the root of the carpet. Gather it up and throw it away. Next, vacuum up the remaining baking soda (empty the canister/bag often). Now you have an easy, deep-cleaned carpet.
Air Purifier
To keep your house from smelling like a dog or a litter box, adding an air purifier (or two) will help keep the air clean from dust mites, odors, allergens, mold spores, viruses, smoke, and other toxins. Just by improving the air quality in the house, you will not only improve the health of your human family but the health of your fur family. Just remember to change the filter regularly, as instructed in the guide, and do your research on the different types and models. There are many types of air purifiers and not all are created equal.
As you walk through the door you find yourself surrounded by several balls of fur all begging for your attention. You stumble your way into the house, say “hello” to your spouse and fall onto the couch, your lap quickly fills with fur babies all licking your face. You can’t help but smile. You pause and take a deep breath, “It smells really good in here,” you say with awe to your spouse. Your spouse smiles then leans over to show you a video from YouTube. “Of course, it does.”
